St John & St Francis ‘OSCAR’ is a registered charity who organise events and raise money to enhance the experiences of our children. OSCAR stands for ‘Our School Community and Relations’, also known as the PTA. We are a group of parents, friends, family, and staff who volunteer to run events and are always looking for new members and ideas.

We always need more committee members to attend the monthly meetings, help prepare for events and coordinate activities. We are a very supportive group and will always help you with any task you choose to take on. Younger siblings are welcome to tag along to most events as we know childcare can be a problem. Children are welcome to attend OSCAR meetings (make sure they have something to do) – we strive to keep meetings to 1 hour long.

Our previous projects have included revamping the reception outdoor area, the forest school area including pond, the library, the play pod, purchasing KS2 scooters, helmets, and outside play equipment for each year group. We also use our funds to buy Christmas gifts for each child, Christmas parties, subsidise trips, buy additional equipment and organise a leavers party for our Year 6’s, amongst other things. We have also been able to fund extra-curricular activities to enhance lessons e.g., science shows, story tellers, Year 6 first aid etc.

We organise events to raise money, such as fairs and bingo, but also fund events that give the children and their families a great experience, like the discos where the children have hands on experience using money, and fairs where the children run their own stalls. We are always keen to hear your ideas for new fundraising events. All OSCAR volunteers are DBS checked through the school.

OSCAR have a preloved uniform Facebook page where all profits from uniform sales helps with further funding for children at the school.
